skate parks in houston

Southside is one of the best skate parks I have seen in Houston. I love this skatepark because they developed it for skateboarders only. The skate park started its journey in 1994 with an indoor skate park and skate shop. It has two bowls that are size 6” and 5.6”. You can use these for mini ramps as well. I like its street features.

There are many quarter pipes that can be used for learning new tricks. As they have a shop, you can purchase every accessory from the shop. The salesmen are very friendly. Beginners to experts, all levels of skaters can skate there. So it is a great opportunity to meet with skateboard professionals.

Another interesting thing I have seen is that they arrange events at the park. Several types of events are held there. Their last event was Skateshop day at the Southside location that was held on 19th February 2021. It is a complete skateboard park. Though it is a skate park, you can try your rollerblade, quad, etc. there.

The skate park has some rules. These are-

  • You have to pay $10 to skate there.
  • BMX is not allowed there.
  • Skateboarders, less than 15 years need to wear a helmet to skateboard there.
  • You have to agree that you are skateboarding here at your own risk.
  • Must have health insurance to cover your injury cost.

Are you looking for a skate park with a big playground, soccer field, basketball, court, tennis court, etc? Then Eastwood Park is the best opinion for you. It is more than a skate park. Some people call it a recreational park as different types of sports can be played there. The skate park is not very big.

It has mini ramps that are perfect for beginners to learn tricks. As an expert, I have few opportunities to skateboard there. This park is very suitable for kids. Its BBQ pits make me excited. If you have a kid you may check out the morfboard which can be used as a scooter and skateboard both.

But I noticed there were some problems. I have seen trash that made me disappointed. And the park requires more lights for nighttime. But I like its restroom. Tired people can go there to relax. A group of friends with different sports hobbies can go there to enjoy it together.

The skate park is the largest in the world and the largest in north Houston. It is neat and clean. I love this skate park because I have seen pro skateboarders help beginners to learn how to ride. If you or your son is a beginner and doesn’t have enough knowledge to skateboard, you don’t have to worry.

It is a complete skate park. And built that in a way, even pro skateboarders will not be bored there. There are plenty of transitions including stairs, rails, bowls, snakes, hips, drop ins, etc. If you love vert you can go there. You want to do street skating, it is also possible there.

Freeline skates are allowed there but no scooter or BMX is allowed. They require a helmet to skateboard there. So you have to bring it along with you. Its restrooms are closed due to the pandemic. The specialized skate park has all features including volcan, roll-in, quarterpipe, kicker, hubba, curb, stairs, cement park, bow, etc. So it is a perfect skate park for trick lovers.

Beginner to experts, all people can skateboard there. You can skateboard till 10 p.m as the lights are turned off this time. I have noticed some problems there. Fast food cups, bottles, etc. trash are found on the ground.

And it becomes too crowded in the evening. So try to go there in the morning. If you are an expert you don’t need to keep a helmet as it is not required. They demotivate you to bring your pet with you.
